What are my duties? A story to be confirmed

Between 2008 and 2011, Workspace nadine carried out the residency project TBC (to be confirmed) in a house at 86 Rue Gallait in Schaerbeek (BXL). 5 artists or art collectives each occupy the house for a period of 6 months:: Hotelbich (2008), The Ever Mass Land (2009), The Public School (2009), dominokingdom (2010) en Barak Okup (2010-2011). Rebecca was asked to make a publication.

With a mountain of documentation material and a lot of immaterial output from these residences I set up the work. What do the different puzzle pieces tell all together? Interviews with the artists reveal similarities: How do I work as an artist? How do I organize myself? The search for freedom versus the need for frameworks. What is the task of an art workspace within the artistic sector? What does ‘artistic research’ mean and what is the place of the artist within an urban context?

Since 2022 Workspace Nadine relocated, the website doesn’t exist anymore. Inshallah.

What are my duties?A story to be confirmed. is an associative and fragmentary online story in image, sound and text in which five different artistic trajectories merge into a collective story. A song of praise to the imagination and a call for more connection in the city.
