With great sensitivity and pleasure, Lenaerts and Loze play their scenes with poetry and clarity, without great spectacle. This not only produces fascinating performance art and storytelling theater, but also leaves room for the power of imagination and the viewer’s own interpretation.

Where there is beauty,

there is a picture

A slide show / performance by Ariane Loze and Rebecca Lenaerts

‘WHERE THERE IS BEAUTY, THERE IS A PICTURE’ is a slide show with an incomplete storyline. Someone who thought it was worth it has taken these photos. But they have been abandoned, thrown away.

Fascinated by the mysterie of old slides from the fifties, sixties and seventies, Lenaerts and Loze start to puzzle, sample, imagine, interpret, order and reorder. Every story could be a possible other story. Every proposition opens new interpretations. Trapped in the frame of their own still-image-movie, both performers ultimately take the head roles in their invented story until they lose themselves in their imagination and become the story.
